Discover how the NRC Data Exchange is transforming humanitarian efforts through seamless and secure data sharing. Built on CKAN, it empowers organizations to access and share critical data efficiently.

Join us for the next CKAN Monthly Live, where we’re shining the spotlight on the NRC Data Exchange.

The Norwegian Refugee Council is setting a remarkable example of how data can drive humanitarian efforts. In collaboration with the Open Knowledge Foundation (OKFN), NRC has implemented a CKAN-based data catalog designed to enhance its operations by making critical datasets more accessible and interoperable. On February 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM UTC, CKAN Monthly Live will spotlight this transformative project.

About the project

In 2024, NRC introduced an internal CKAN data catalog, giving 8,000 staff access to 60 essential datasets spanning 12 programs. This initiative aims to simplify data discovery and interoperability by consolidating datasets into a single, centralized platform. Built using CKAN’s flexible and open-source capabilities, including its "out-of-the-box" front and back-end features, the catalog is seamlessly integrated with other NRC data initiatives like governance, collection, and visualization.

By equipping humanitarian workers with streamlined data tools, NRC is breaking barriers to collaboration and enabling data-driven decision-making in the field.

What You’ll Learn

Join this webinar to discover how NRC is leveraging CKAN for humanitarian purposes. Here’s what attendees can expect to learn:
